Three soft animals in one crochet plush animal pattern pack

This crochet plush animal pattern pack gives you three amigurumi animals in one purchase: a squishy mini penguin, a chubby capybara and a chunky standing polar bear. What ties them together is the way they are built. All three use little or no sewing, because most of each animal is one continuous piece, so your time goes into the crochet and not into attaching limbs at the end.

They also come in three different sizes and yarns, from a penguin that fits in your palm to a bear about 20 to 25 cm tall. Working through the pack gives you three quite different experiences, not the same animal three times.

What the crochet plush animal pattern pack saves you

Bought one at a time, the penguin, capybara and bear come to $13.97. The pack price is $9.99, which saves you $3.98.

Together that makes 123 steps, 135 photos and 59 pages of guidance, delivered as three separate PDF files.

The mini penguin

The penguin is worked in soft plush yarn with a 4 mm hook, from the top of the head to the base. Its white face comes from simple colour changes in rounds 6 to 8, the flippers are crocheted straight onto the body and only the two small orange feet are sewn on. Plush yarn hides its stitches, so the PDF shows you how to find each one with a fingertip.

The chubby capybara

The capybara is one piece from head to base, in light worsted or DK yarn with a 3 to 3.5 mm hook. The first round wraps around a short chain to give it that long, flat head. The paws and feet are puff stitches worked right into the rounds, the ears are crocheted onto the head, and the closed sleepy eyes are simply stitched. There are no safety eyes or limbs to attach at all.

The standing polar bear

The bear is the big one of the pack, in worsted or aran yarn with a 3.5 mm hook. You start with the two legs, join them with a short chain and keep going up through the body and into the head. Only the muzzle, the ears and the arms are made separately. The long straight stretch of the body is restful to work, and the finished bear stands up by itself when it is stuffed well.

Why this crochet plush animal pattern pack works well together

Each animal teaches you something the others do not. The penguin gives you practice with plush yarn and colour changes, the capybara gives you the puff stitch and joined rounds, and the bear shows you how to join two legs and carry on in one piece. By the end you will have practised a good range of amigurumi methods, using only basic stitches and clear photos.

Each PDF also has its own materials list, a stitch guide in US terms, a stitch count for each round, a quick reference section and a page for when something looks wrong. You never have to work out a pattern from scratch or adapt one file to another.

What you need for the crochet plush animal pattern pack

Each pattern has its own yarn, so you can buy for one animal at a time. If you need to compare weights, the Craft Yarn Council yarn weight chart is a useful reference. Across all three, you will need:

  • Soft plush (chenille) yarn in dark grey and white, plus a little thinner orange yarn
  • Light worsted or DK yarn in light brown or beige, plus a little dark brown or mauve
  • Worsted or aran yarn in cream or white, plus a little brown
  • Hooks of 4 mm, 3 to 3.5 mm and 3.5 mm, plus about 2.5 to 3 mm for the penguin’s feet
  • Black safety eyes for the penguin and the bear, polyester fibrefill, a yarn needle and markers

Who this crochet plush animal pattern pack suits

All three are rated easy, so the pack suits anyone comfortable with working in the round, increases and decreases. It is also a good way to set up a few projects ahead of time, or to make a small family of animals. If you would like to try a free plush first, our chenille bear tutorial is a good match for the penguin, because both use a soft chenille yarn.

What happens after you buy the pack

This crochet plush animal pattern pack is digital, so you receive three pattern files and crochet the animals yourself. No parcel is sent. After checkout, sign in to Whop with the code sent to your email and you will see all three files in one place, ready to print or to open on a phone or tablet.

Questions

Do I get three separate files?

Yes. The penguin, the capybara and the polar bear each come as their own PDF.

Which one should I make first?

The penguin has the fewest steps of the three, but plush yarn hides its stitches. If you would rather see every stitch, start with the capybara.

Is it safe for babies and small children?

The penguin and the polar bear use safety eyes, which are small parts, so those versions are not toys for children under 3. The capybara has a stitched face, and it should still be given to young children only under supervision.

Do you ship anything?

No. These are digital PDF patterns. You download the files after checkout.

What if a pattern does not work for me?
