A bear, a cow and a penguin in one crochet amigurumi pattern pack

This crochet amigurumi pattern pack gives you three cuddly animals in one purchase: a classic teddy bear, a shaggy Highland cow and a round mini penguin in soft plush yarn. Each has its own texture and its own kind of charm, so they look lovely sitting side by side, and they keep your hands interested from one project to the next.

This is also the biggest pack in the shop by steps. You get three complete patterns with photos throughout, and all the sewing, knotting and embroidery is shown at each stage.

What the crochet amigurumi pattern pack saves you

Priced one by one, the bear, the cow and the penguin add up to $14.97. As a pack they cost $9.99, which keeps $4.98 in your pocket.

In total, you get 138 steps, 150 photos and 59 pages, across three PDF files you can open one at a time.

The classic teddy bear

The teddy is a brown bear with a cream muzzle, cream soles and an embroidered nose, made from ten pieces in simple rounds of single crochet and then sewn together. Its 2 mm hook gives small, neat stitches, and you can use a thicker yarn for a bigger bear. The assembly has its own part of the PDF, with counted positions for the arms and the legs, so the two sides match.

The shaggy Highland cow

The cow is the showpiece of the pack. Its twelve pieces are basic rounds in worsted yarn with a 3.5 mm hook, and the curved horns bend by themselves as you shape them. The coat comes last: short strands of yarn knotted in rings from the legs upward, using a needle and not the hook. You then trim the hair to the look you like, which is why no two cows turn out the same.

The mini penguin

After those two, the penguin is a treat. It is one round piece in soft plush yarn, small enough to fit in your palm, with a white face made by colour changes and flippers worked straight onto the body. There is very little sewing, so it makes a nice break between larger animals, or a warm-up before them.

Why this crochet amigurumi pattern pack works so well

These three give you a real range of finishing skills. The bear teaches clean assembly, the cow teaches you to add texture with knotted hair, and the penguin shows you how to work with plush yarn and draw a face using colour changes. Every one of those skills will help you on any plush you make afterwards.

The stitches themselves stay basic in all three. Each PDF has a stitch guide in US terms, a stitch count for each round, quick reference pages and a troubleshooting page, so help is always close at hand when something looks wrong.

If you are not sure where to begin, start with the penguin, which has the fewest steps. Move on to the teddy for its sewing practice, and leave the cow until last, because the coat takes time and patience. You can of course go in any order, since each PDF stands on its own.

What you need for the crochet amigurumi pattern pack

Each animal has its own list inside its PDF. The Craft Yarn Council yarn weight chart is a good place to check a weight if your label reads differently. In short, you will need:

  • Brown and cream yarn suited to a 2 mm hook, or a thicker yarn with a larger hook, for the teddy
  • Worsted weight yarn in light brown, dark brown, cream, beige and black, with a 3.5 mm hook, for the cow
  • Soft plush yarn in dark grey and white, a thinner orange yarn and a 4 mm hook, for the penguin
  • Black safety eyes for each animal, plus polyester fibrefill
  • Stitch markers, yarn needles and scissors

Who this crochet amigurumi pattern pack suits

It suits you if you have made a small amigurumi or two and are ready for projects you will want to display or give away. You do not need new stitches, only a little patience at the sewing and hair stages. To warm up with a free project, see our crochet cat amigurumi tutorial on the blog.

Questions

Which one is the hardest?

The Highland cow is rated Easy+, because of its 12 pieces and the long coat. The teddy bear and the penguin are both rated easy.

Do I get three separate files?

Yes. The teddy bear, the Highland cow and the penguin each come as their own PDF.

Is it safe for babies and small children?

All three use safety eyes, which are small parts. For a child under 3, embroider the eyes instead and sew every part firmly, as the teddy and cow PDFs explain.

Do you ship anything?

No. These are digital PDF patterns. You download the files after checkout.

What if the pattern does not work for me?

Write to us through the contact page with your order details and we will refund you.
